We're Looking for 2012-2013 Plum AFJROTC
Boosters Board Members

Time flies when you're having fun!
It's hard
to believe that it has been over 3 years since we formed the Plum AF JROTC Booster Club. All of the charter Board
members will be moving on at the end of this school year so we need a complement of new parents and supporters to continue
forward.
We are looking for energetic parents/guardians who may be interested in joining the Board
for the 2012-2013 school year. It is an exciting group that feeds off the energy and passion of our cadets.
If you are interested in a Board position, have any questions, or are willing to take a Chairperson role, please drop us a
line at boosters@plumjrotc.org. All Board positions are available.
Your time will be well spent as it is much more fun
than it is work! We are particularly iterested in parents of the underclass cadets and not just next year's
seniors. Alumni parents are welcome as well.
Please help ensure our Booster Club continues to help
make the Plum AF JROTC one of the best programs of its kind.

First Annual 2012 Western Pennsylvania
JROTC Military Ball
On Saturday, March 10th, the first Annual Western
Pennsylvania JROTC Military Ball was held at Banquets Unlimited in Wilmerding. Cadets from our Plum Air Force JROTC
unit along with cadets from Pine Richland, North Allegheny and West Mifflin Units gathered for a night of celebration and
fun. This is just another opportunity for our cadets to build contacts and relationships with students from other schools
and other JROTC units.

Plum
AF JROTC Unit PA-20063 receives Distinguished Unit Award with Merit

Based on the most recent inspection a
few weeks ago, our Plum AF JROTC unit was recently nominated for the Distinguished Unit with Merit Award. This
can only be accomplished during a formal evaluation year which is conducted only every 3-5 years.
Our unit
has earned the Distinguished Unit designation for the past five years but the first time we have received the "with
Merit" nomination.
The Distinguished Unit with Merit Award recognizes the personal growth and
accomplishments of the cadets, the contributions of the teachers as mentors of the cadets, and the support of the school and
community. The Distinguished Unit with Merit Award is limited to only about 5 of our nation's 884 Air Force
Junior ROTC Units.
Our sincere Congratulations to Major Scott Kolar, Chief Tim Conley and Chief Terry Speer for
all their hard work and dedication to our students and this program.
Major Kolar also added "We could
NOT have accomplished this without strong support from our Boosters! The extracurricular items as well as the financial
support for trips played a large role in the award. My thanks goes to all of you from the staff as well as the cadets
for helping make Plum JROTC one of the best in the world!"

College Credits Available for JROTC
Plum JROTC
cadets have a unique opportunity to purchase college credit for the JROTC courses they have completed. A cadet that completes
four years of JROTC at Plum Senior High can purchase up to 15 semester hours at a greatly reduced cost compared to any
other college. The credits are granted through Adams State College. Your cadet will receive an official
transcript that they can transfer to any school they choose to attend. All of our courses have been preapproved by
the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State. Many other local schools accept the credits as well.
For complete information on obtaining and registering
for college credits, please click here to visit the College Credit page.
Uniform Alterations
The AF JROTC will pay the cost for certain uniform alterations
including the hemming of slacks and skirts. All other alterations are authorized but at the expense of the cadet, e.g. take-in
slacks/shirt, and waist.
Cadets are instructed
to take their uniform items identified above to the following location for alterations:
Michelangelo's Tailoring & Tuxedos Penn Hills Shopping Center Rodi Road,
